Another Successful New Retail Door Installation

For any retail building, it’s of paramount importance that doors and entrance units are safe, secure and meet legal opening requirements. Amber Doors were recently able to supply and fit a new entrance unit within an existing shop, with specifications to improve the shop’s security as well as bring all safety and legal requirements up to date.

Before

One of the main concerns with the original entrance unit was that the aperture of the active door did not meet with the minimum legal opening requirements for a retail premises. In installing a new aluminium door, we increased the aperture, ensuring that the new entrance unit would be in legal compliance.

As well as increasing the opening of the door, we also replaced the existing troublesome floor springs with hold open transom closers, and fitted the new doors with anti- finger trap door stiles bringing the shop entrance unit up to date with the latest anti finger-trap safety requirements. By making these changes, we helped to save the client thousands of pounds by not having to replace the complete shop front façade.

After

In addition to improving the locking system, the new door unit features 6.4mm clear laminate, laminated glass is safety and security glass.

There are a number of benefits to using laminated glass rather than toughened glass in replacement retail security doors:

• It remains intact or breaks safely on impact rather than breaking into large pieces
• It can withstand repeated blows from heavy objects
• Even once glass is broken, the layers of PVB remain as a barrier to intruders

As well as bringing the shop front up to date with all legal requirements and successfully increasing safety and security, we also provided the new door in a silver anodised finish, ensuring that the aesthetics of the updated entrance unit are in keeping with the rest of the shop front.

Amber Doors help another customer to conserve energy by installing a Turbo Fold Fast Action Door

Doorways that are in frequent use can contribute to heat loss and high energy bills unless you know the right type of doors to install.  Turbo fold fast action doors are the ideal energy-saving solution for doorways with a high traffic flow as we demonstrated to one of our customers in Leamington Spa recently.

The fast action door was designed and manufactured to suit an opening of 3500 mm (width) x 4500 mm (height) and included radar motion detectors and a push button station.

In order to function at such a high speed, turbo fold doors make use of a folding motion that collects the curtain as it rises and then releases it again as it falls.

A Recent Scissor Lift Installation for the Buckingham Group

At Amber Doors and Loading Bays, we can offer a standard range of loading dock scissor lift platforms, but we can also provide completely bespoke manufactured lifts for both single and double deck vehicles. Scissor lifts are designed and built to create a strong and hard-wearing solution for the loading and unloading of vehicles at loading docks.

Scissor lifts are designed to be able to withstand very heavy loads whilst maintaining stability. To prevent the need for regular maintenance, loading dock scissor lifts are manufactured using maintenance free synthetic bearings, ensuring that the lift remains reliable in the long term.

We recently carried out the installation of a scissor lift platform for the Buckingham Group, on site in Dartford. In order to make the installation process simpler, the scissor lift was delivered to the site by a Hiab crane-mounted truck, enabling it to be lowered into a pre-formed pit directly from the Hiab.

Because of the size of the scissor lift bed, we had to bolt on and weld full length side wings to the lift on site rather than on our premises before transit.

Once the scissor lift was installed, we then fitted safety rails and gates around it in situ. The power pack was then externally installed with all hydraulic hose work fed underground into the pit.

Matching the Old to the New: Installing A Lightweight Sliding Door

Amber Doors were recently asked to manufacture and install a lightweight sliding door to match a customer's existing door on site. You can see from the image below the style of the existing door:

We began by removing the cladding panels, brickwork and the spotlight to form the new opening - you can see this by the position of the chimney and air conditioning unit where the new door now sits.

Take A Look At How We Refurbished A Loading Bay Leveller

Here at Amber Doors we are pleased to show you how we recently saved a client a huge sum of money by refurbishing rather than replacing their loading bay leveller.  Whilst other companies may have advised the client to unnecessarily replace the leveller for a high price, we were able to remove the existing leveller whilst we refurbished the pit and leveller.  Not only that, our skilled team then replaced the complete platform deck before installing the leveller back into the pit.
